What students should be working on ongoing at home:

Tuesday 6 January 2015

Tuesday

Welcome back all.

Homework
Calculate the surface area of an object in your home (Kleenex box, book, table, TV, cat...)

If you have a favourite poem, bring it in. We can read it in class, and I won't tell anyone that you're the one who brought it in.

MATH
We're looking at surface area.
Math tests were returned today.

POETRY
We started our poetry lessons today, it was a great class and we read three beautiful poems.
The Pasture by Robert Frost
Mother to Son by Langston Hughes
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou

They are posted to the right under poetry.

SCIENCE
We started our space unit today. It was MINDBLOWING!
The slideshow is posted here for anyone who wants to review it.

GYM
We've started Basketball.

ENGLISH
Today's reading about self-driving cars is posted to the right. Some questions you can ask at home:
- What advantages does a car like this offer?
- What disadvantages?
- Would you trust a car like this to drive you around?
- Do you think these kinds of cars will become normal?
- How could these kinds of cars reduce traffic jams?

DRAMA
We acted out the Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet.
It's famous for the line "Do you bite your thumb at me, sir?"
We're going to choose parts and put the entire play on stage in front of the school. We'll modify it a bit to make the lines easier to understand/memorize and to make it all a bit shorter. We'll choose roles, and anyone who wants a part can have one (though there can only be one Romeo after all!)
