What students should be working on ongoing at home:

Thursday 28 May 2015

Thursday

Parents:

Each student in class is starting a business!

They need to come up with an idea, develop a product or service, buy materials, build the product, advertise, and sell! (for real money)

(Often students make bracelets, bookmarks, birdhouses, etc..)

All the rules are posted to the right under Business Project.

All products must be made by the student. They can't just buy Pokmemon cards and sell them.

The sale will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015

They need to make a business plan, work out a loan agreement, and start creating their product.

Students need to ask parents or teacher for a start-up loan, to a maximum of $20.00. The loan is secured by chores. If they don't pay you back, they have to do chores.

The loan is given at 10% interest. If you lend them $10.00, they have to pay you back $11.00.
They MUST pay the loan back if they have the money. They only do chores if they fail to earn any money.

The Loan
Have the student pitch their business idea to you - They must show you their business plan.
Talk it out with them. Encourage them to try and sell something that people might actually want to buy.
The student should know how much they plan to spend on materials to get their business started.
They should know how many items they might be able to sell. (ex. I think I can sell 10 bracelets)
They should know how much each item will sell for (ex, one bracelet: $0.25)
They should only take out a loan that they think they can repay. They should be very careful spending money.

On June 17, we will sell to everyone in the school at one big market set up in the gym. Parents and community are very much invited to come to the market.

As the business goes on, students will keep track of every expense and revenue on a seperate accounting sheet.

Once all the sale is over and all money is in:
First,  I will deduct 10% of overall revenues as tax.
Second, all loans and interest must be paid back it full.
Third, any money leftover is PROFIT!

This is school after all, so no profits will be kept by the students.

All profit will be used to buy a great end of year pizza party for our class.

(All tax money or money I collect as interest goes to Me to We)
