Computers
The computer programming language we are learning is called Scratch.
Play around with it here.

Graphic Design
Our class is so thrilled with the positive reaction from the Markdale Recreation Committee. We designed logos for them on Photoshop. They chose their favourite, the logo will be the official logo of the Markdale Rec. It will appear on letters, banners, signs, and waterbottles.
Wowzers.
The committee was so impressed with all our work, they're throwing us a pizza party and giving each student a "surprise" gift.
I'm pretty proud of all the kids on this one, way to go,

History
Ask your child once in awhile about the War of 1812. They work hard in history, let them show off to you.
You can ask them some questions like:

  • Who was Isaac Brock?
  • Who was Tecumseh?
  • Who was the war between?
  • What was the American's goal in the war?
  • Why was England's army/navy already pretty in Europe in 1812?
  • What did Hull do at Detroit?
  • How did Brock and Tecumseh take Detroit?
  • Who won the first few battles?
  • How did Brock die?
  • What did the Americans do to Toronto (York)?
  • Who won the battle of Lake Erie?
  • What happened at the battle of Lake Erie that made the American commander Perry a hero?
  • What did Proctor do at the Battle of the Thames that caused Tecumseh and his followers to be fighting largely on their own?
  • How did Tecumseh die?
  • Where is his body buried?
  • Why did Tecumseh choose to fight on the side of the British in the first place? What did Tecumseh want?
  • How is the style of fighting of the well trained British soldiers different from the style used by the First Nations warrior?
